Description:
The Spa Atlantis Resort at 1350 North Ocean Boulevard in Pompano Beach, Florida, is recognized as one of the top wellness retreats in the country. Located directly on the Atlantic Ocean, this Art Deco-designed resort and spa offers 89 ultra-luxurious guest rooms and suites with private balconies and a wide range of amenities to renew the body, mind, and spirit, which include the full-service spa, fitness center, two outdoor pools and award-winning vegetarian restaurant.
The 10-story wellness center was built on a long and narrow strip of beachfront that challenged all engineering disciplines at DeRose Design Consultants. The structural engineering required different kinds of stiffness and unusual geometries because the structure on that site would act like a sail. The low levels of AIA to the wave-crest elevation required creating ramps or slopes at the beach level that needed to meet human comfort levels. And the mechanical engineering required an economic solution for ventilation and air conditioning distribution, which was needed to be evenly distributed throughout the facility. The innovative materials and comprehensive in-house services of DeRose Design Consultants met each challenge and surpassed their own expectations with the results synchronizing with the holistic-themed resort.
