Description:
The innovative 300,000 square-foot, multi-use student center serves as a central hub for the university’s student population and centers around the 5,500-seat main arena. It is home to the NSU Sharks and host for a variety of Intercollegiate Athletic Programs, including men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. The state-of-the-art arena has two upper level practice courts and the entire facility is outfitted to comfortably host concerts, lectures and other special events for the university as well as the surrounding Western Broward County community.
As the civil engineer of record at Nova Southeastern University, DeRose Design Consultants was responsible for the structural as well as civil engineering of the NSU Student Center and Arena and showcases unique interior architecture and structural features, including exposed, long-span structural trusses, pre-cast, pre-stressed and poured-in-place reinforced concrete.
