Description:
At 110 acres, the Central Broward Regional Park at the intersection of State Road 7 and Sunrise Boulevard is the largest park in Central Broward County and home to the first Cricket Stadium in the United States.
What started as a mere idea in 2000 became a jewel in the crown of the Broward County Parks and Recreation Department. It includes a 5,000-seat multipurpose stadium and entertainment complex that can be expanded to hold 20,000; an aquatics complex featuring an instructional swimming pool; an activity pool with modern play equipment features; a boat rental facility; four lighted soccer/football fields or two cricket pitches, and courts for netball, tennis, and basketball. There are seven picnic shelters, two corporate pavilions, two shaded playgrounds for kids, two miles of nature trails and a 10-acre lake that permits catch and release fishing. Plans also call for shopping, an arts/cultural center and library.
The Central Broward Regional Park was brought to life in part by DeRose Design Consultants acting as the prime professionals performing all engineering services, project management, representation, and site planning while joined by several national architectural firms.
