Description:
The Atlantic-Starwood Hotel-Condominium at 601 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard is an 18-story, luxurious five-star resort/residence. It proudly sits directly on Fort Lauderdale Beach and features 124 finely appointed hotel-condominium residences, each with a signature tiered terrace that offers expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean; a world-class European Spa with fitness center; two-room, 1,000-foot meeting area; a poolside café and gourmet Trina Restaurant & Lounge.
DeRose Design Consultants is the structural engineer of this novel project, bringing to life the challenging, yet stunning, cascading pyramid design created by local architect Oscar Garcia.
This remarkable structure is unusual in its design due to the layered style of the east-facing building and challenged DeRose for innovative engineering solutions. The result required configurations with multiple, complicated load transfers and complex geometries, using unusually higher strength concretes and post-tensioning reinforcement. This gratifying project because of its enormous complexities is now considered a milestone structure on the beach.
